About the Campaign
Mike Speedy has announced he is seeking another term on the Indianapolis City County Council. Speedy was elected in 2003 to represent District 24. The district encompasses the eastern third of Perry Township. "Serving the citizens of Perry Township over the past four years has been a wonderful and rewarding experience," noted Speedy. "Whether it’s making sure a pot hole is filled, ensuring that the streets are cleared after a snowfall, or working hand in hand with Southsiders to solve neighborhood problems, it has been an honor and privilege to serve the families of Perry Township."
Speedy also highlighted some of his accomplishments during his first term on the Council. "I have worked tirelessly to promote economic development and job growth strategies that benefit not only Perry Township, but all of Marion County." Speedy also added that he has pushed for more fiscally conservative policies while on the council. "As a small business owner and a father, I understand the notion of living within my means. Government must act in the same manner. We have a responsibility to provide the citizens the services that they need at the least possible cost."
Councillor Speedy also outlined his vision for the future. He noted, "I plan on focusing on providing comprehensive solutions to better the neighborhoods of Perry Township." Speedy’s first step in doing this is to make public safety priority one. "City leaders must understand that we have to ensure that there are enough public safety officers on the streets. We must aggressively combat crime in the neighborhoods through increased staffing, promoting community policing initiatives, and by working hand in hand with community groups to combat rising crime throughout Marion County.
Speedy plans on running a positive, issue oriented campaign that focuses on his accomplishments as a member of the City County Council and his vision for the future of Perry Township.
According to AFA of Indiana PAC chairman, Micah Clark: "Indianapolis voters seeking an effective, experienced leader could not have a better candidate in this election than in this race for City-County Council. Mike Speedy is a proven leader on the Council in whom families can place their trust to champion their values. Mike Speedy's conservative Hoosier values should resonate with large numbers of voters in Indianapolis.”
